Chong Qing is a well-known historical cultural city. She’s over 3000 years old. In 583, Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty set up Yu Zhou, and that’s why people call Chong Qing “Yu”. In 1189, Zhao Dun, son of Emperor Hyojong named the place “Chong Qing”, which means “double celebration”. Chong Qing is the capital city of ancient Ba, ancient Xia and provisional capital of the National Government during the anti-Japanese war. As a result, Chong Qing is also called “the capital city of three dynasties”.

Chongqing’s culture and history are closely linked. Chongqing is widely acknowledged as the largest industrial and economic center in southwestern China.An
